Tobias (Andrew Garfield) is hit by a car driven by Almut (Florence Pugh). She stays in the hospital until he wakes up, and because, despite having a broken arm and neck, he’s already been discharged (not enough beds – political comment!), takes him to dinner.
The two leaders make an engaging pair
He is newly divorced, she is newly out of a lesbian relationship. Despite this inauspicious start, mutual attraction prevails and the pair embark on a years-long relationship.
Pooh, in particular, is easily mistaken for the fiery Almut
Garfield plays nice guy Tobias, who’s a little too annoying to be entirely believable, but manages to stay on the right side of annoying (and if the shapely bare bottom in the bathroom is his and not a body double’s, he’s got a really nice bottom — just sayin’… ) No other actor gets enough screen time to make an impact, although I was surprised to see Douglas Hodge play Tobias' father – twenty or thirty years ago, he might have played the male lead himself. This is a good example of a chick flick: romantic, cheesy, and leaves no eye in the house.
I’m not sure I’ll watch it again, but I’m glad I saw it at least once
